Trekking and maps go hand in hand and any people find a little cartography goes a long way. If you can wait until arriving in Kathmandu ou will find numerous bookshops and ap sellers for your every need. If you like to research your route in advance, check out the 'Nepa Maps' series for 'Everest Base Camp' and 'Around Annapurna'.

One from the superb 'Mountaineers Books' series. A technical book providing much more information than most people will need, but gives excellent background information on equipment and organisation of major worldwide expeditions.

A beautiful book, innovative in style and content. Great reading to help decide where to trek in Nepal, detailing some of the more unusual treks and climbs.

Trekking in Nepal - Stephen Bezruchka

Stephen's book has been a labour of love for over 30 years with numerous updates and revisions. The latest, 1997 offers the most comprehensive information on how to trek well in Nepal. Full of cultural, historical and practial information.
