Trek Description
The Classic Manaslu Circuit is a remote and challenging trek around Manaslu (8163m), the eighth tallest mountain in the World. Magnificent mountain scenery, ancient Tibetan Buddhist settlements and a challenging pass crossing ensure a total Himalayan experience for all who walk this classic circuit. The Manaslu region has always seen few trekkers compared to the Everest and Annapurna regions and although a handful of basic tea houses have appeared, the route remains pristine and we trek in fully supported camping style. We start out in the Gorkha region, south of Manaslu, and ascend the Burhi Gandakigorge, to reach the Tibetan Monasteries and settlements beyond the village of Ghap. Here, the valley starts to open out and is reminiscent of many areas on the Tibetan Plateau. We will start to enjoy magnificent vistas of the Manaslu Massif as well many peaks on the Nepal border with Tibet. This high altitude valley is one of several ‘hidden’ or ‘secret lands’ scattered across the Himalaya, where enlightenment is easy to find for all genuine seekers! As we climb up through the pristine alpine environment and approach the Larkya La (5135m), the mountain scenery becomes increasingly impressive. Beyond the Larkya La, we drop down into the heavily forested valley of the Marsyangdi River and follow the more frequented trails beneath the awesome Annapurna range of snow capped giants. We meet our transport at Bhulbule for our return drive to Kathmandu. A Classic Himalayan adventure!
Testimonial
I travelled to Nepal with Wilderness Trekking in the fall of 2010 and it remains the single most amazing thing that I have done. I have travelled extensively throughout the world and I’d like to provide a basis of understanding for such a bold statement! The value of this trip – monetarily, physically and spiritually was beyond compare. The Nepali people are amazing and dynamics of our trekking group was able to embraced ‘the journey, not the destination.’
I would participate in the same trek again in a heartbeat, or another trip with Wilderness Trekking as I trust their judgment implicitly. Our trip shared many good laughs; we learned a great deal and raised ourselves to many new challenges.
