Trek Description
The remote and recently opened Valleys of |Nar & Phu in Central Nepal, offer an amazingly varied trekking route, offering a spectacular array of magnificent mountain scenery and ancient settlements. We start out in the lush, green Nepalese foothills, trekking through rice fields and bamboo forests. We ascend gradually, acclimatising to the higher elevations through a labyrinthine series of rocky gorges. Ancient stone structures signal we are entering the sacred settlements of Nar & Phu, where we take time to explore and enjoy the unique opportunity to spend time with these most amazing people. Our trek climaxes with a crossing of the Kang La, a 5300m / 17,500ft pass with awesome views of the Annapurna Massif and the Marsyangdi River Valley. We make the long descent to Ngawal and prepare for our exciting mountain flight back to Kathmandu. Only recently opened to foreigners the rock gorges and snow covered mountain passes of Nar & Phu are home to a unique people, speaking a vanishing Tibetan dialect, they depend on the Yak for their survival. Our trek to Nar & Phu is suitable for any keen hiker, the Kang La pass is physically challenging but non-technical and the remote nature of the trek will appeal to the `explorer’ in us all.
Testimonial
I joined Wilderness Trekking for the 2010 trek to ‘Mythical Nar and Phu’. A confident rapore throughout the entire local team radiates out, letting you know you're in the best of hands. From tackling the high passes, to ensuring hygenic preparation of meals, the support and dedication to detail is always apparent. Everyday was filled with so many 'wow' moments! The companionship that quickly developed with fellow hikers, and the great “Wilderness Trekking’ sense of humor, were the icing on the trekking cake, and our amazing cooks did actually conjure up a couple of cakes on the trail!
