Testimonials

 Previous trek experiences

I first met Mick Bromley when he led our 3 week trek in India and Bhutan. Mick is a very experienced mountaineer and has undertaken many expeditions as well as trekking trips. Not only does Mick get on well with his paying clients but he also has an excellent rapport with the trekking staff as well as the local people. He goes out of his way to make sure that everybody is included and made to feel part the group.
I have no hesitation in recommending him as I do not believe that you will find a better trek leader.

Our trek to Lo Mantang in Mustang, Nepal, was outstanding in every respect and for this Mick Bromley can take much of the credit. His organizational abilities, medical knowledge, people skills, and attention to detail backed up by years of leadership experience ensured the success of the trek, and the subtle but watchful eye he kept on our individual health and on camp hygiene was reassuring. We can without reservation recommend him as a guide and trek leader and don't doubt that others will find as we did that his combination of professionalism and friendliness virtually guarantees a great experience.

If you desire  an authentic adventure that will remain as a highlight  throughout your lifetime, then I would recommend you to join up with Mick Bromley. Without doubt  I believe that Mick is the best there is. My opinion is based on over a dozen guided trips & expeditions with a variety of different guides. Mick has guided me on two trips in Nepal and one trip to the volcanoes of Ecuador. Mick is an excellent leader and a knowledgeable mountaineer. His compassion for people & places creates an environment of respect & understanding. Mick is definitely 'one-of-a-kind' and it has been my honor & pleasure to know him. Mick is my choice as a guide, and as a friend.

I first met Mick in Nepal more than a decade ago. We were filming a documentary of the ascent of Mera Peak and Mick was our guide. Even before leaving Kathmandu, it became readily apparent that Mick's goal was not restricted to simply providing safe, professional guiding services, but also to share his lifelong experience in the mountains with his fellow travelers. The successful climb to the summit of Mera, through its high and low points, gave ample testimony to Mick's skills and experience, as well as his natural ability to make durable connections with those around him: clients, staff, and the local peoples as well..

Mick is a fabulous character who is totally committed to ensuring that his clients have the best possible experience in the mountains. He has a good rapport with everyone including the support crews and he has a great love of the local people with their diverse cultures and religions. All who meet Mick respond to his consideration, warmth and ready with. Safety and hygiene are always dealt with professionally as with his other hard skills.
Mick always takes into account personal aspirations, fitness, the terrain and the weather so as to ensure a happy and worthwhile expedition for all involved - it is a joy to be with Mick.

I had the privilege of trekking to the roof of Africa with Mick and I cannot think of any way in which Mick might have bettered his performance. I felt on top of the world at the end of my trek, because Mick helped me to achieve a long held goal, and in the process to raise a lot of money for disadvantaged kids in India. It’s no exaggeration to say I could not have done it without him. Mick is technically adept, hugely knowledgeable and he’s got wide experience. He’s calm and courteous at all times, with a great sense of humor. He inspires confidence, knows how to help you tackle your inner demons, and has the knack of getting the best out of you.

Mick is an extremely professional guide and with his expertise took the trouble to encourage people, especially when the conditions were a little difficult. He quickly ascertained individual strengths and weaknesses within our group and always ensured that his clients enjoyed themselves. Most of all, Mick's sense of humour was fantastic which made the whole trip a whole lot of fun and so enjoyable, which at the end of the day is what it's about.

My trip to the Himalayas was such a great experience. Mick Bromley made me feel safe and has great  consideration towards the country side and local people. His leadership skills were amazing both with the trekkers and the local staff. I felt total trust in him.

My name is CK Ho, a Hong Kong Chinese. I am a trek lover. Of the many trek leaders I have met, Mick is one of the best. He treats local communities and trek crews as equal partners and has a conscientious environmental attitude. He is an experienced, professional, knowledgeable leader. His leadership skills are good. As I have saw during our trek, he manages very well the full trek crew, including guides, cooks and mule team as a whole. He always makes sure that food is hygienically prepared, he is a wilderness specialist and lover of nature.

I've trekked with Mick a few times and can safely say he's by far my favorite guide and trek leader. Technically, he knows his stuff, but Mick has many skills beyond that. His interests in the mountains extend from the geology through the flora and fauna to the stars in the sky, and his enthusiasm is infectious. He also understands the psychology of his clients; I can safely say that without his 4am pep talk, I'd never have made it up the last part of the summit climb to Kilimanjaro.

I thank you for a very enjoyable and rewarding trek. I've been on many treks to every continent prior to our trip together but this trek was outstanding, in large part due to your leadership. Your knowledge, energy, enthusiasm, and optimism were infectious, and added so much to the enjoyment of the trek. Prior to our trek, considering my past experiences whilst trekking at altitude I was a little concerned about how I would manage. Your advice and good sense in this area alleviated my concerns.

I was impressed with Mick's guiding style from the outset, and I knew from our first meeting the trek was going to be special and I was going to have memorable experience. I am absolutely thrilled to see Mick launching his own trekking company. I know "Wilderness Trekking" will reflect Mick's unique vision, and offer unparalleled adventure trekking journeys. Mick is the kind of guide I want to be with under extreme conditions.
I was most impressed by the way Mick sized up the group on the first day of trekking, and then arranged the guides to accommodate the entire group so everyone was able to go at their own pace throughout the entire trek, always covered by guides - not an easy task in a diverse group. Unlike most lead guides I've had, Mick often served as sweep at the back of the group encouraging trekkers to stop along the way and soak their feet or have a wash in a nice sunny spot along the rivers, photograph, enjoy the wildlife and wild flowers - which resulted in this being by far the most congenial group I've ever trekked with. Mick shared experiences with each of us, all the while staying absolutely on top of all trek details with the itinerary, the staff and the individual needs of the group members. Mick took advantage of every opportunity for us to meet local people, and visit in homes, villages, monasteries, yak-herders tents, and local markets. I've never felt more welcomed as a visitor, as I did in this remote corner of the world. I wholeheartedly recommend Mick Bromley and Wilderness Trekking to anyone with an adventurous spirit, who has a fascination with visiting special places around the world and experiencing one-of-a kind adventures.

Mick managed our group calmly and diplomatically. The trip was challenging and potentially hazardous; climbing three 6000m peaks within four weeks. But, although I was certainly challenged, I never for a moment felt unsafe. Mick quietly but efficiently ensured a safe ascent of all three peaks by all team members. As the oldest and certainly the least fit I was always the last to summit. But Mick's presence gave me the strength to keep climbing. As well as the promise of a big bear hug at the top! I know any trek Mick leads would certainly be memorable for all the right reasons. He is naturally enthusiastic about mountains and wilderness areas and he genuinely wants to share that enthusiasm with all he meets. He is an excellent guide and would make any trip very special.

What makes Mick special is his ability to share his quiet passion for the wilderness, indigenous people and their ways of life, coupled with his knack of developing relationships between trekkers, trek support teams and the local inhabitants. These characteristics greatly  enhanced my trekking experience.

Having done many group trekking and biking holidays, I can vouch for Mick's leadership abilities. He plans in advance, giving appropriate and timely guidance on trekking, altitude and hygiene. His emphasis on hygiene and safety made sure everyone had an excellent holiday that was not spoilt by avoidable problems. Mick is good fun and made sure our last night back in Marrakech was memorable with a delicious Moroccan buffet accompanied by local wine!
